NFL Star Ray Rice Knocks Fiancee Out In Hotel

Baltimore Ravens NFL running back star Ray Rice, struck his fiancee and knocked her unconscious during an altercation at an hotel in Atlantic City, last weekend. USA Today is reporting that both Rice and his fiancee, Janay Palmer, were both arrested Saturday morning and charged with simple assault-domestic violence after an argument at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City.  TMZ obtained video of Rice lifting Palmer by her arms out of an elevator and laying her on the ground as she laid unconscious. In a press release, the Atlantic City Police Department stated that Rice and Palmer struck each other and after the arrest they went home together. Rice is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 25 at 9 a.m.

50 Cent Signs Deal With Capital Records

Rapper 50 Cent just announced that he is departing from Interscope Records after 12 years. 50 released four solo albums under Interscope, with both Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and The Massacre topping the charts. He also started his own label, G-Unit Records, with Interscope. 50 Cent made an announcement following his departure that he has just signed an exclusive distribution deal with Capital Records which is where he’ll be releasing his upcoming album Animal Ambition. According to 50, the album will be released June 3rd. He plan on releasing a song and video every week starting March 18, which is when Animal Ambition becomes available for pre-order.

Did You Know?

On February 10,1964 After 12 days of debate and voting on 125 amendments, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by a vote of 290-130. The bill prohibited any state or local government or public facility from denying access to anyone because of race or ethnic origin. It further gave the U.S. Attorney General the power to bring school desegregation law suits. The bill allowed the federal government the power to bring school desegregation law suits and to cut off federal funds to companies or states who discriminated. It forbade labor organizations or interstate commercial companies from discriminating against workers due to race or ethnic origins. Lastly, the federal government could compile records of denial of voting rights. After passage in the House, the bill went to the Senate, which after 83 days of debate passed a similar package on June 19 by a vote of 73 to 27. President Lyndon Johnson signed the legislation on July 2. Later, future Georgia governor Lester Maddox would become the first person prosecuted under the Civil Rights Act.

A man is suffering life threatening injuries after he was stabbed in Paradise Lounge, a Richmond nightclub located at N.5th St. According to police the man was stabbed after a fight inside the club and was found outside the club around 2:35 a.m. Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
