Brandy “Officially” Engaged

It’s official.  After reports surfaced earlier this week of insiders claiming Brandy got engaged during the Christmas Holiday, it’s now been 100% confirmed.  Deets inside, plus a pic from her and Ryan Press’ Hawaiian getaway…

They been dating for two years, and he just put a ring on it.  Brandy’s rep just confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Ryan popped the question during the Holiday, and the twosome are set to be hitched!

It will be the first (real) marriage for 33-year-old Brandy.  And after chick told everyone who would listen just how much she loved herself some Ryan, it’s good to see that he’s head over heels as well.  The twosome have been attached at the hip (pictured together above at the 2012 ‘VH1 Divas’ show) since they started dating, and Brandy confirmed on ‘Wendy’ that they already live together.

And insider told Us Weekly“They are thrilled and happy and Brandy feels this is so right.”

Ryan will become stepdad to Brandy’s 10-year-old daughter Sy’Rai.  The “Wildest Dreams” singer has written songs about music industry exec Ryan and gushed about her boo in interviews, so the engagement comes as no surprise.

And just how are the love birds celebrating?  They’re currently living it up in Hawaii.  Brandy posted a pic of her happy self saying, “Hawaii sun all in my face:) having a great time with my love @ryanpress215” .  And Ryan posted his bride-to-be looking hot saying, “Right here with me”:

But no full on ring pic.  Yet….

Frank Ocean’s FATHER Wants To SUE Him For $1 MILLION Dollars

R&B crooner Frank Ocean is having a few family issues as he recently tweeted about his estranged father and a million dollar lawsuit.  He tweeted,

Then he added, “i got his DNA though, maybe I inherited some of his karma too.”   While the idea of a man suing his child for $1M is interesting, Frank failed to mention what the lawsuit is about.  His tweet simply leaves his fans guessing….as do many of his posts.

But a million dollars is a lot of money to ask of someone whom you abandoned so we’d love to hear the father’s side of this situation.  We will keep you posted.

Family of nurse crank called speak publicly for first time

By Laura Smith-Spark, CNN

(CNN) — The family of a nurse who apparently hanged herself after taking a prank call regarding Prince William’s pregnant wife Catherine spoke movingly Saturday of their grief at losing the “core of the family” who had surrounded them with love and laughter.

Speaking to reporters outside Westminster Cathedral, where a Mass was held to remember Jacintha Saldanha on Saturday morning, they described the “unfillable void” her tragic death had left in their lives.

It was the first time her husband, Benedict Barboza, and two teenaged children had spoken publicly of their loss since the nurse’s death on 7 December.

“My wife, you were the light of my darkness, who always showed me the way forward,” said Barboza.

“I feel a part of me has been ripped out. Without your beautiful smile and sparkling personality the house is an empty place to live.”

The couple had…

Mandela undergoes surgery, remains hospitalized

By CNN Staff

JOHANNESBURG (CNN) — Nelson Mandela on Saturday morning underwent endoscopic surgery to have gall stones removed, President Jacob Zuma’s office said in a statement.

The procedure was successful and Mandela, who has been hospitalized since last weekend due to a recurring lung infection, is recovering, the statement said.

Mandela has not appeared in public since the 2010 World Cup hosted by South Africa. The former president gets round-the-clock care since abdominal surgery this year and an acute respiratory infection in 2011.

The Nobel Peace Prize laureate spent 27 years in prison for fighting against oppression of blacks in South Africa. He became the nation’s first black president in 1994, four years after he was freed from prison.

Despite his rare appearances, Mandela retains his popularity and is considered a hero of democracy in the nation.

Just last month, South Africa launched a new batch of banknotes with…
